Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly?
Not really. The whole point of writing (in my view) is moving the reader emotionally (either joy, hate, love, excitement, etc). If you don’t feel those emotions yourself, how can you make others feel them through your words?
What comes first for you — the plot or the characters — and why?
Characters. It used to be plot, and sometimes I can’t help but think of a plot, but characters are the heart of a story.
What is the first book that made you cry?
Of mine: My Lord Ghost. It’s the story of a woman who goes to a country estate and meets the “ghost” who lives there. He’s got such an incredibly touching story and yet he’s so immensely brave you can’t help but feel for him.
